Transforming the Teaching of Writing

The Southern Nevada Writing Project (SNWP) is thrilled to offer a new type of hands-on professional development opportunity in writing for K-8 educators who teach English, reading and writing.  The SNWP Transforming the Teaching of Writing is a 3-graduate-credit course that provides the unique opportunity for teachers to learn about and practice effective writing instruction under the guidance of expert writing teachers.  Each participant in this course will work one-on-one with an SNWP Teacher Consultant to plan and provide writing instruction to elementary and secondary students enrolled in the SNWP Summer Youth Writing Camp.  Writing Camp class sizes are small (14-16 students per class), so student impact is optimal.

If you are interested in taking this course, please download and complete the application. (You may type directly on the form, save it, and send it back to Jennifer Maher as an attachment).

The deadline to apply is April 11, 2016!

Throughout the year, SNWP offers professional development for teachers through a variety of university credit institutes and workshops. Taught by experienced Writing Project fellows, they cover a variety of topics for teachers of all grade levels and subject areas. One, two, or three UNLV credits can be earned for pay scale advancement or re-licensure.
